As most of you know, the President has signed the Omnibus Trade Bill that includes a renewal for the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program. US Customs has updated their computer system and we have been entering goods eligible for GSP preferential treatment as duty free as of yesterday, August 7, 2002. The renewal is retroactive and, therefore, duties deposited on GSP eligible commodities from October 1, 2001 through August 6, 2002, will be refunded directly to the importer from the US Treasury.
