ALAMEDA CORRIDOR RAIL CHARGE

Ocean carriers have established an additional charge in an effort to recover monies paid to the railroads to assist in the construction and maintenance of the Alameda Corridor, in conjunction with the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority.

As early as April 15, 2002, all containerized cargo moving in or out of the ports of Los Angeles or Long Beach, through or into Southern California, (i.e. the counties of Kern, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego and Imperial), whether or not actually carried over the Alameda Corridor, shall be subject to a charge in the following amounts:

Per 20-foot container (20’)----------------------US$15.00

Per 40-foot container (40’)----------------------US$30.00 (Standard or High Cube)

Per 45-foot container (45’)----------------------US$34.00*

*Some carriers may use the formula of US$0.75 per linear foot for the 45’ containers.

This charge will be included on the bill of lading, and will be paid by the cargo interest before the release of cargo to the consignee.  If you have any questions regarding this issue, please call your Geo. S. Bush & Co., Inc. representative.
